Wisetail Drive works with various MDM solutions via the AppConfig standard to automatically register and approve devices in your site.
Generate a Wisetail Key
For the Wisetail Drive app to recognize managed devices and associate them with the appropriate Tenant, a Wisetail key needs to be generated.
To generate the key, a Super Admin must:
- Navigate to the Admin tool > System > MDM Providers
- Click the ‘New Provider’ button
- Click the Copy button next to the MDM Key on the MDM Provider Details screen
Note: Wisetail Drive Auto Device Registration was designed to with all AppConfig participating MDM vendors. Please review list located at https://www.appconfig.org to find out which MDMs participate in this community. That said, below is a list of currently tested MDMs:
Auto Device Registration (ADR)
Wisetail Drive works with an MDM standard called AppConfig that is compatible with most major MDMs. For additional information on AppConfig and which MDM vendors participate, please visit https://www.appconfig.org/
Important Notes
Auto Device Registration is not possible without deploying the app through an MDM. Please see the below tables for information on the keys necessary to register devices with your Wisetail platform. Once the AppConfig profile has been pushed to your devices along with the Wisetail Drive App, you should see a login screen for the app. The device will auto register and be visible under Admin Tool -> System -> Devices.
Required AppConfig Key / Value Pairs
| Key | Value | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| tenant_name | Part of your unique Wisetail site URL | STRING | Get this value from the first part of your site's address (url): `company.wisetail.com`. |
| wisetail_key | Generate this using the steps above | STRING |
Optional Config Values
| Key | Value | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| form_factor | Tablet or phone form factor | STRING | Designate devices to display a Tablet or Phone viewing experience. |
Notes
If you see a screen asking for Company Name after the app is installed and opened, the AppConfig did NOT apply correctly. Check your keys and values.
