Wisetail Drive is a mobile media library. It's a way to provide teams instant access to the files, documents, images, videos, etc. they need to get their job done.
The Wisetail Drive app is available in both the App Store (iOS) and the Google Play Store (Android). See Getting Started with the Wisetail Drive App for further information.
The beauty of Wisetail Drive is in its simplicity and speed. Wisetail Drive allows you to completely decouple yourself from the Internet, and still access all of the content that you and your users need at the speed of local storage rather than the speed of a potentially unreliable internet connection.
With device management you can ensure that only authorized devices are able to access your content. And with Location Association you can link a Drive device to a specific location value using a designated profile field in your system.
The rules engine can also be applied to carousels, folders, and individual media items so that items can be permissioned to a particular group of users.
Frictionless Login
Frictionless Login lets approved devices open directly to the Library instead of stopping at the login screen. Signing in from the Library is available whenever full Drive access is needed, and when a signed-in session ends on a frictionless device the app returns to the Library rather than the login screen.
Signed-Out Experience
While signed out on a frictionless device, users browse the Library and choose Log In when they need full access. Device-level settings remain available, so device utilities and information are reachable without signing in. The Chatbot requires sign-in.
Language follows the current state: the device language applies while signed out, a user's preferred language applies once signed in, and logging out returns to the device language.
At Work checks run on frictionless devices at app launch, on logout, or on demand from the menu, with no user signed in.
Once signed in, an Account page provides profile, password, language, switch user, and log out.
Library Content Visibility
In frictionless mode the Library shows only content that is appropriate for device-level access:
- Content with no permissions is always eligible to appear.
- Location-only content appears when the Location feature is in use and the device location matches.
- Content using any non-location permission rule stays outside the frictionless experience until a user signs in, even when a location rule is also present.
Admin Controls
Frictionless Login is enabled at Admin Tool → System tab → App Settings → Wisetail Drive → Mobile Feature Access. This site-level setting is the master control for availability on mobile.
- Automatic enablement can be limited to a defined audience using rules-based permissions. With no audience configured, Frictionless Login is enabled for newly created devices by default.
- Audience-based automatic enablement applies to new devices and does not alter devices that are already approved.
- If the site-level setting is turned off and then on again, Frictionless Login must be re-enabled on devices that were already approved.
- Admin Tool → System tab → Devices pill identifies frictionless-enabled devices, and the feature can be managed on a single device or in bulk from there.
Manage Featured Content
Admin Tool → Drive tab → Manage Featured Content
Featured content management is available to custom role admins via the Manage Featured Content role ability. Behavior is governed by the role's audience:
- Unrestricted (no audience defined): Full access. Sees and manages all featured content, reorders the full list, and publishes or schedules across everything. Media they add is limited to media managed by their role.
- Limited (audience defined): Scoped access. Sees and manages only featured content within their role's media. Can add and schedule their role's media, but cannot see other roles' featured content and cannot reorder the featured list.
Streaming Only
For media items where offline access is not needed (such as excessively large files), you can mark them as Streaming Only. This prevents the content from being automatically downloaded to devices. The thumbnail and metadata still sync for browsing and search, but viewing requires an internet connection. See the Media Overview article for configuration details.
The Chatbot on Drive
The Wisetail Chatbot is available on Drive across both web and mobile. On web, Drive content is automatically included in Chatbot interactions alongside your LMS content. On mobile, the Chatbot returns answers from Drive-published content so every citation links to something users can open right in the app. See the Chatbot Overview for full details and enablement.
@Work
Drive supports the @work geofencing feature, including per-user exemptions across both web and mobile. See @Work for full details on geofencing and exempt status configuration.
Mobile Navigation
The navigation header and chin auto-hide on OnTrack web pages, giving OnTrack views more vertical real estate on mobile and keeping the mobile chrome clean and consistent. This applies in the Wisetail Drive mobile app.
